Making an effort on one’s self

Man makes effort on sand [silicon] and makes microchips with value greater than gold. He makes effort upon metal and makes it fly [aeroplanes] what if he made effort upon himself, what spiritual heights he would also reach.
Nowadays the direction of our effort is on the outside rather than our inner-selves. That’s why there’s progress everywhere, the latest innovations are being produced, architecture of buildings becoming more adventurous, cars are becoming advanced as well. Take whatever, everything is getting better and better.
However, if mankind looks at themselves morally, they are declining.

[couplet] “The one who is always trying to discover the unknown,he could not discover himself. He who captured the rays of the sun,yet he failed to fill the void of his own life. The one who illuminated the world with lanterns failed to realise the darkness in his own heart. If there is darkness in one’s own heart, what’s the use of the light on the outside.”

The area of effort is not just materialistic. A person must also work on his heart so he can progress internally as well.

Allaah has placed beauty within us which we need to bring out. When mankind makes effort on mines, they extract gold, silver, diamonds and other valuables. Similarly if he makes an effort on his heart, then he’ll reap courtesy, humbleness, compassion, and piety. These are the qualities which make a person valuable in the sight of Allaah. This beauty is present in everyone. Allah has placed this beauty inside every individual.

Knowledge is not mere words

8637801234_4d72b64402_b

Excerpts taken from Hazrat Shaykh Talha Qasmi Naqshbandi Damat Barkatuhum’s discourses:

This is the convocation ceremony, Allah says about the Ulama (Islamic scholars) those with knowledge and those without are not equal. Allah does not consider words as knowledge. There are numerous who can play with words (to mesmerize others) however Allah calls them uneducated. That which is considered knowledge is the light that comes in the heart. Sayyedina Imam Sha’fi (Rah) said to his tutor Imam Waki (Rah) , “Hazrat (revered) I forget lessons”. Imam Waki (Rah) gave an unusual advise, Imam Shafi (Rah) was a poet too and he narrates this entire incident in one of his poems

I said to my tutor Hazrat Waki Rahimahullah  that I forget my lesson

Hazrat Waki Rahimahullah replied “leave sins”

This is because knowledge is Allah’s light and Allah’s light is not bestowed upon someone who sins. To learn words is done in the madrasa (Islamic institutions), the work of getting the light of that knowledge in the heart is done in Khanqah (place for spiritual reformation). Therefore, the name ‘divine connections of the blessed servants of Allah‘ is the amalgamation of Islamic schools and Khanqah.

3 steps of heart Cleansing

The first step towards cleansing the heart is to true repentance, the second step is to decide to not sin again. The devil conspires to make you sin through various ways therefore the third step is to have a strong associated with our elders (Mashaaikh) to seek advise from them just as we seek advise from a medical doctor for our physical ailments much in the same manner we need to seek advise from spiritual doctors (Mashaaikh) for our spiritual ailments.

Shaykh Sayyid Muhammad Talha Qasmi Naqshbandi (d.b)

Pride

“If one does not remove pride from within through hardwork then Allah breaks this pride and when Allah breaks it then one becomes a mockery in front of the world. When one works hard and removes pride through Tazkiyah then Allah blesses him with his closeness and makes him loved and respected amongst people”
Hazrat Maulana Sayyid Muhammad Talha Qasmi Naqshbandi (d.b)
